Today I have something fun to share with you that was actually inspired by the lovely Mitosu Crafts. Barry and Jay are pretty darn awesome! You should definitely check out their blog.
They showed a card recently that was black and black and featured a really cool techniques where we goes around the white edges of his die cut piece to make it blend in to the card, and not be quite so stark. I am really excited to share this with you, as it is just a brilliant technique.

Here's a look at my finished card where you can see how effective the black on black and colour combination looks together, it really is striking!
I have also used some of my current favourites such as; Linen Thread, Gold Glimmer and the gorgeous Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle.
To achieve this card I have followed these basic steps:
- Cut a card base from Basic Black Cardstock to a top folding portrait card.
- Cut a layer of Basic Black Cardstock to 9.9cm x 14.3cm. Adhere this to your card base.
- Cut a piece of scrap Basic Black Cardstock with a Stitched Rectangle Die. Stamp the small hearts with the Label Me Bold Stamp Set in Versamark and heat emboss in white. Use the image of the card for reference. Adhere this piece to the centre on your card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
- Spritz you card with some Clear Wink of Stella.
- Take a scrap piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock and stamp the flower image with Memento Black Ink. Colour the image with Lovely Lipstick Stampin' Blends and some Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blends. Use the Colour Lifter to remove some of the colour from the petals for some added definition. Cut this out with the coordinating Ladybug Die Cuts. Go around the white edges with the Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blend.
- Cut two strips of the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle to approximately the same size and adhere these to the card with some Snail Adhesive. Use image as guide for placement. Adhere a small strip of Gold Glimmer Cardstock, with the end flagged or cut on an angle where shown. I have used Glue Dots to adhere this.
- Add your die cut flower to the card with some Stampin' Dimensionals.
- Stamp the sentiment 'For You' from the Label Me Bold Stamp Set in black ink and adhere this to the card where shown.
- Add a Linen Thread bow and adhere with Glue Dots & finally embellish with some Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots in Lovely Lipstick.
- Decorate the inside layers of the card if you wish to. See image below.
- Enjoy!
Here's a close up of the finished card with a close up view so you can see all the textues and details.
I am really loving using the gorgeous Label Me Bold stamp set for those fun sentiments in the labeller font (just love this!!!!) and those gorgeous hearts (the stamp set has a couple adidtional stamps that achieve a similar look).
Also Wink of Stella looks AMAZING on black cardstock. as it really shows up and gives you some beautiful shimmer!
Here's a look at the finished inside of the card, where I have added some of the beautiful ladybug stamps and coloured them with a mixture of Lovely Lipstick and Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends. I have also added a sentiment and hearts from the Label Me Bold stamp set in both black and Lovely Lipstick.
